Tips

Short, practical things you can do with Tempo, beyond the reference docs. The user guide tells you how a feature works; these tell you how to use it well, the clever uses, the small habits, and the gotchas.

  • Presentation

Attach a thumbnail to any event

Any source can put a base64 image in metadata.thumbnail and Tempo shows it inline. Best for things you recognize at a glance, not text scans.

  • Presentation

Stack a multi-step job into one row

Give every event of one run the same run id and Tempo collapses start, steps, and done into a single stack instead of scattering them down the timeline.

  • Sources

    Split one source into sub-sources

Post under a dotted providerIdentifier to divide one source into separate rows in the source panel, all styled by the same score and accepted by the same token.

  • Sources

Curate at the source, not in Tempo

The cheapest way to keep a feed quiet is to send less. Filter at the source first, narrow the score second, and hide in Tempo only as a last resort.
